Record Temperatures
updated: Jan 16, 2014, 11:47 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

According to Google's weather forecast yesterday it was going to reach 90 degrees. The highest I saw on wundermap was 88 degrees. According to Wikipedia the record temperature for January is 89 degrees.

Were any temperature records broken yesterday?

Actually, according to Noozhawk, yesterday's temp tied for the record in SB, and broke the record in Santa Maria. Ugh, would really like some Winter about now.

Summer. Late Summer. Next Summer. Early Summer. The four seasons that I love here. Nice and warm.

Yesterday broke both records in SB and SM. Today will likely do the same. (According to Alan Rose of KEYT).

I have no complaints - rain is irritating (and maybe the coming drought will convince me otherwise). I love this weather. I think it's just weather though. I have yet to talk to anyone with a 5000 year perspective that contradicts my perspective. Enjoy it while it lasts .

According to today's Noozhawk, yesterday (Weds) set a record in SB of 82, beating the old record by 1 degree.

Are all the nos, from the same person. I love the way there are not facts to support the nos.

Prior to about 75 years ago everyday records weren't kept. The only reason it is documented that SB hit 133 one day was because there happened to be a US geological survey ship parked here off the coast at the time. I think 1853. They day was described Birds literally dropping dead from the sky. I'll take 83 degrees any day of the year.

Intellicast has records going back to at least 1912 for LA. Subtract about 5 degrees and you have the SB temps.

"Rain is irritating?" Wow.

I am so sick of watering my fruit trees . . . My garden doesn't know what season it is, thanks to this heat. Everything is so dry.

Rain, please please please please please RAIN!

I am beginning to think of vacation spots where it rains. I love this weather but my spirit is beginning to crave rain. I do not like these gray hillsides.

How many years did the longest drought on record last in CA? Maybe we can beat that record!

My poor dog. December was cold and now it's hot. She grew a denser coat in December and is now shedding with this warmer January weather.

The last time we had a drought of this magnitude my ex brother-in-law was cited and fined for over-watering the lawn. Foolish boy.

I propose that the community walk or ride a bike to gather together to do what natives have done in the past: a rain dance!

I love this weather, I function best on solar energy. Since we can't do anything about the lack of rain, just enjoy what we have.

Hopefully, we won't break the highest record of 133 on an afternoon in the 1800s. Birds dropped dead out of the sky.
