More Mesa Moon Party
updated: Jan 16, 2014, 9:11 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

I heard about a monthly event on More Mesa celebrating the full moon at midnight with music and fun. Does anyone know if it is taking place tonight?

I hope the Sheriff is reading this. This is the last thing I want to hear in the middle of the night as I live adjacent to More Mesa.

The event is invitation only. Invitations and IDs will be checked at the trail entrance.

How can you "check IDs" or try and restrict access unless you are the property owner, or acting as their agent?

Ya right, check my id on a trail. Do they own it? Hey edhat do you think it would be ok for the sheriff dept to spend resources on this if it comes to happen?

Noise is forbidden after 10pm. This is private property you are using for your own entertainment. Next thing that will happen is everybody will be banned, because of the behavior of those who do not respect the property of others. This is NOT a public park. I do hope the Sheriff is reading this, and stops it.

Ahh yeah this is the moontribe thing. It's more like hippie raver types who like trance electronic music, not drunks.

How dare anyone think they should be allowed to do ANYTHING without obtaining a permit and paying the applicable fees (and having at least a couple of the Sheriff's helicopters hovering overhead to make sure nobody has too much fun).

Whadaya think this is, a free country or something?

Sweet the fire will roar tonight at More Mesa? Be just like the T Fire party.

I guess they will have to find another place to party now that Edhatters know about it...

You missed it. We had a great time last night. The moon was full at 8:52pm last night. Better luck next month!!

Of course they could... if we actually lived in a free country. But since we don't, I'm sure some prissy neighbor would put a stop it immediately.

Pagans. I guess that when St. Patrick chased them out of Ireland they decided to come over here. Cool.

A friendly note to the OP- when invited to or mentioned a private "public" party, it is wise not to spread the word too far, especially on the Internet. You don't want to 'blow out the scene', and telling all the people grousing on edhat about permits and sheriffs and restrictions is just inviting the party to be potentially busted. Best ask the person that you initially heard about the event from, instead of a public forum. Best of luck, and happy Wolf Moon.

Bring your xmas tree and pile it on the bonfire. If it's good enough for Solvangers, it's good enough for Santa Barbarians.

Sometimes there are gatherings down on the beach. If anyone wants to hike in at night they probably can't carry in anything to make enough noise down there to bother the Hope Ranchians.

Dude, you just created the next Floatopia (and put a stop to it at the same time - if you ever hear about something like this again, mum's the word, okay?).

No matter how you choose to think about what "might" happen at a full moon gathering on the beach........ the people I've known who do this kind of thing (at various places) are nature lovers who are full of good energy and just want to share in that with others of like mind.

In 1978 I put on a full moon Ledbetter beach party called WEAR WHITE AT NIGHT. Only people dressed all in white were allowed to attend, and the sight around the bonfire was lovely. When the police came to break it up (the saxophone had gone on too long....) they were of course the men in black, another tableau. Innocent times.

I must agree that this was an incredibly misguided, unnecessary and possibly destructive internet post. Or a troll. Oh well.
