Source: Santa Barbara Police Department

A three-month narcotics investigation culminated with the arrest of Robert Keith Banks, age 46, of Inglewood, for possession of heroin for sale, transportation of heroin, and possession of an unlawful weapon. Banks was a supplier of illegal drugs to the Santa Barbara area. Over 9 ounces of heroin were seized during this operation.

In October 2013 detectives from the Santa Barbara Police Department's Narcotics Unit initiated an investigation into Banks's narcotics activities. He was already wanted on a $20,000.00 arrest warrant for violation of probation stemming from a previous narcotics case. The investigation resulted in Banks being contacted and arrested for his warrant in the parking lot of the McDonald's Restaurant at 1115 Casitas Pass Road in Carpinteria at 8:40 p.m. on January 8, 2014. Banks was found to be in possession of 9.75 ounces of heroin valued at $9,300.00. He was also found to be armed with a collapsible police-style baton. Investigation revealed that at the time he was contacted Banks was in the process of transporting heroin from the Los Angeles area to a local drug dealer.

Banks was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on the aforementioned charges with a bail amount of $30,000.00.
