Old Sierra Madre Rd
updated: Jan 11, 2014, 5:49 PM

By John Wiley

At first I thought these small caves near Old Sierra Madre Rd. were created with picks. I see well-worn trails in the pix, and on gMaps there are lots of trails and roads nearby. But then I wondered if they were actually dug out by a thousand licks? It seems there may be cattle ranching in the area and probably plenty of deer. Maybe they use that particular spot of soft clay in the cliff as a salt lick. What do you think? Maybe some Edhatters have been there or would know?
