Don't Wait 'Til Christmas Poem
updated: Jan 11, 2014, 12:00 PM

By Fired Up Fred

A dear lady that I loved so much wrote a poem years ago after losing a loved one at Christmas time. It is titled "Don't wait 'til Christmas." I think of it often especially after the holidays are past. This poem talks about how we wait to do something special for someone. When we shouldn't wait we should say a kind word, give a smile, a hug and tell those close, that you love them all year long not just at Christmas. I know this doesn't sound like the old ornery coot that I am, but I have a soft spot for this one.

I could go on about the poem so here it is, read for yourself. It was meant to help and heal and I hope it does that to those that read it.

This one is for you doll!
Fred

Don't wait ‘till Christmas

If you love me let me know
If you love me tell me so
If you love me let me see
See the love you have for me

Don't wait ‘til Christmas

If there's something you want to share
Tell us about it
We really do care
Sharing is love, that's
What life's all about

Don't wait ‘til Christmas

If theres a good deed you want to do
For someone you love-and loves you too
Do it today, you'll be glad when it's done
Who knows that tomorrow may never come

Don't wait til Christmas

If theres a gift you've wanted to buy
A flower to send and didn't know why
Do it today and other days too
Each day is precious
If only we knew

Don't wait til Christmas

Our letters to write- we never have time
The phone calls we make
We stay too long on the line
But this time that we share
Is never time lost
When one soul might be saved
While otherwise lost

Don't wait til christmas
