...Gusty northerly winds to develop Thursday...

.Gusty northerly winds are expected to develop Thursday...the strongest of which will be through and below passes and canyons of southern Santa Barbara county and through the interstate 5 corridor portion of the LA and Ventura county mountains.

Gusty winds are also expected in portions of the Ventura and Los Angeles county valleys and the Santa Monica mountains...especially Thursday evening into Friday morning...and wind advisories may be needed for those areas as well.

...Wind advisory in effect from 9 am Thursday to 9 am pst Friday...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a wind advisory...which is in effect from 9 am Thursday to 9 am pst Friday.

* Winds...north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. strongest through and below passes and canyons.

* Impacts...winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. major roadways impacted include highways 101..154...and 192...especially near Gaviota...San Marcos pass...and below the hills of Montecito.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

A wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph or greater are expected. when driving...use extra caution and be prepared for gusty cross winds.
