Late Night Power Outage
updated: Jan 08, 2014, 8:07 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

Does anyone know anything about the power outage last night? I am not sure what time, just that our clocks this morning indicated it had been out about twenty minutes at some time overnight. We are located in the Goleta area near UCSB.

I live in Noleta and nothing happened here, but of course that is miles away from you and UCSB.

I know the power was out yesterday afternoon in the Girsh Park area. Don't know why.

Not a problem in the 93111 area last night.

Around 5:30pm, saw a bunch of police and AMR and fire trucks at the Storke entrance to Camino Real Marketplace. [Home Depot, Staples, theatre, etc. Near Costco and KMart.]

Maybe that had something to do with that?

Not the right thread, but does anyone know what was going on?

I live in the UCSB Family Housing and the power went out for about a minute while I was up reading. I think it was around midnight or so.

Had an X-level solar flare with at least a couple of M-flares, too. Just sayin'. Probably no biggie, overall.

@349 Santa Barbara County Fire Twitter has that listed as a Code 3 Vehicle Accident.

I live in the Girsch park area and it was a temporary brown/black out in the afternoon. It was listed by Edison as "U" for "unplanned" and described as "equipment problems". Full power restored by time I got home at 5:30.
My retired parents live in same area and called me at work to tell me about it and wanted to turn off breakers at houses so there wasn't. Big surge when they fixed
You can log on to SoCal Edison website and they list such things with a map for confirmation.

Hope that helps
