Clothing Recycling
updated: Jan 06, 2014, 4:17 PM

It's January so we're cleaning out the closets. Can someone tell us where we can donate/recycle stained and torn clothing locally so they can be reused to make new clothing, rugs etc? I hate to put them in the landfill.

Call Textile Waste Solutions at 805-277-0742. Our go to twaste dot com.

They are a local company.

Thrift Stores recycle textiles. Any thrift store should take and recycle clothes that cannot be resold.

H and M on State Street also takes a bag of clothes and gives a coupon for the store in return. Any textiles are OK.

One time, years ago, I donated a ton of very expensive clothes and a 10speed bike with a child seat, to a local charity and they told me the stuff gets sold over seas. Last time I donated to them. Same with the good working bicycle I donated. I felt like taking back the stuff.

Ragbox,com

It's located in the corner of your linen closet.

976p, that's why I donate to local Alpha Thrift, and their job training program.
