King Tides Soak the Coast
updated: Dec 30, 2013, 8:04 PM

By John Palminteri

The "King Tide" has made a splash along the west coast, and many areas were soaked this morning, including Butterfly Beach in Montecito.

Each winter the super high tides rise the sea level on our shores, and this year, without a storm system involved, we are spared from significant damage or erosion.

There is also a special web page for residents to send in their high tide pictures to illustrate what may happen if the ocean levels increase in the years ahead.
