Are there any home owners in Santa Barbara or Goleta that go all out on Christmas decorations? I would love to show my family some lights!

Yes, just about everyone on Veronica Pl off of Veronica Springs does a great job decorating, but no one goes over the top quite like the house on Quinientos, near Soledad.

DOGMOM, yep, we try to take that drive every year as a matter of tradition. Will do so again this year time permitting.

There used to be some people in the Santa Barbara Shores area of Goleta who would really do things up. I think one was a retired engineer who had his entire front yard covered with moving ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, etc. Does anyone know if he's still doing that?

check out the Canon Green area of Goleta a little past Costco, the neighborhood gets VERY into it!

025P, As far as I know that neighborhood stopped doing that years ago but I haven't tried that area in a few years so I am not sure if they've started up again.

Ed, how about doing a photo collection where people send in their fav pix with the address and we can make an Edhat Light Tour Map?

I was out looking for lights and it seemed pretty light this year.
Economy?

There's one on Alameda near Cathedral Oaks (near Dos Pueblos High School).

No Christmas decorations, but SB has a holiday tree on State St. I wonder if it will be up for holidays such as the Forth of July?

The general area from Alisos and then up Quinientos is much more decorated this year than last; it's not every night that the owners have the lights on, though, probably because of the electricity bills.

The entire lower eastside is into Christmas decorations this year. Also, some folks just follow the trollies around to see where they take their paying customers for the holiday lights.

Follow the Trollies. All over the westside people try to outdo their neighbors. See Robbins at Pedregosa for starters.

Someone told me about a house so decorated the electric bill is $40. a day. Could be anywhere in the U.S. if they heard about it on T.V.

I really miss the festive display that was a tradition in the 1800 block of Anacapa Street. It featured lots of colored lights, a real limousine complete with Santa, a massive statue of Columbia or St. Barbara or someone, recorded music, and all kinds of Christmasiana. Sadly, the home sold a couple of years ago and the block hasn't been the same since.
