I need to take a really good friend out to dinner that needs some Christmas cheer. Which restaurant would the edhat community recommend?

Chase! It is all decked out for Christmas - it's like a winter wonderland in there. I can't think of a better place to take someone in need of Christmas cheer.

Chase for Christmas cheer most definitely! Probably the best holiday atmosphere of any restaurant in town.

Buy a travelzoo voucher for Arch Rock Fish. For $59 you and a guest each get a soup or salad, share an appetizer, each get an entree, share a dessert AND a bottle of wine. The voucher expires Dec 31. Good deal.

The Harbor Restaurant at sunset, great views and a beautiful sunset should cheer them up. Reserve a window seat.

Ca' Dario is one of the best in town. Bouchon is another.

In all total straight up honesty; When I read this post, before reading any comments, my first thought was Chase. Large enough to accommodate, but still an intimate setting. Always decked out with holiday cheer decorations this time of year. With the plus of a holiday themed State street location. A walk through near by La Arcada Plaza with its decorations adds to the glitter and wonder of Christmas...

For cheer I am thinking that places that are a little lively and with interaction with happy people may be better than a quiet table for 2. Harry's or Brophy's at the bar, people are friendly or a window table at Joe"s for the added entertainment of people watching. Depends on if you are looking for great food or more of a fun outing.

The Land Shark might be cool.

They do a short harbor tour and then go on land and look at houses that are well decorated.

Went to Harry's (Loreto Plaza) just last night for an organization's holiday party. It is so Lively! Thursday night, and it was totally full - Big Christmas tree, decos all over, felt absolutely cheery. Has a nice easy feel to it. The food for our buffet was delicious. Festive feeling environment. Also agree that Chase looks bright too, Christmas-y all year long.

I'd forgotten about Harry's (but lots of others hadn't!) It was fun and good and festive!

Hope you have a good time with your friend, who must be cheered up by your effort and caring!

The husband and I used to frequent the Chase, back in the day. Haven't been in years…how's the food these days? We used to love whatever they were "piccata'ing" that night, halibut was a favorite.

The chase bar and grill in Santa Barbara for a louder experience or try domingos in goleta for more low key dining they both have tons of decorations and music to go along

Best holiday decor in town is Chase by far! Harry's next. Chase food is great. My guests have been awed by Chase in past years!

I don't EVER think Edhat's priorities are messed up.

I'd like to know the prices of steak at the Chase. They don't post that information on the menu on line.

Thanks for any tips.

Do you mean you need to take the friend out on Christmas Day? If so, you need to be sure to find out which places are open and make reservations.
