House Cleaning Recommendation
updated: Dec 09, 2013, 8:21 PM

Hello, I need to have my one-bedroom apartment deep-cleaned. Scrub floors, clean bathroom & kitchen, windows, dusting, etc. Can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced housekeeping service that would do a one-time cleaning? Thanks!

Karens Kleaning did one at a relative's house. They will do all that--be specific about what you want, though! But...if you are trying to get a cleaning deposit back, you might want to talk to the landlord first and work something out. They may have their own cleaners who can do what he/she wants for less. Or you might be planning to pay a bundle to clean carpet the landlord is planning to replace anyway.

MasterCare does exactly what you want. They are terrific and reliable. I just looked at their site and they have a 10% off for the first cleaning offer right now. They will come out and give you an estimate. This is their URL: http://www.santabarbarahousecleaning.net/

Is that permitted in your lease? If not, you could lose your apartment. Just something to check into.

Wallace Cleaning Co did a fantastic job in early Nov when I needed a company last minute before my move. I also didn't need the "usual" move out clean; they abided by just cleaning what I directed, only, which I very much appreciated. You can pay cash, check or charge.

I second the idea that subletting your apt, even for a vacation rental, may be prohibited by your landlord's lease. Read it twice before you place the Airbnb ad.

Echoing the other comments... double check your lease. Most of them don't allow subleasing under any circumstances.

Try Monica Rodriguez. She's good and not expensive. 722 9768

I am just going to be another "echo" about checking with your landlord about subleasing. Most leases strictly prohibit it, but maybe if your landlord approves it could be legal and if not and they find out, and they will, you lose your lease, which you don't want to do when good rentals in SB are scarce.

Molly Maids do a good job.

I second the recommendation for MasterCare. They use their own equipment and supplies. Since they pay their workers a living wage, it's a little more expensive. However, the cleaning skills are above average and the cleaners are friendly and reliable. Also, it's a locally owned business that contributes to the community.

I give a third recommendation for Mastercare. Polite, fast, and efficient.

Karen's has been around a long time and in my opinion is the most thorough and professional of cleaners.
