Monday-Monday once again, Boy! No shortage of Drunk, DUI Drivers. Can't remember when there were so many I didn't live here in the 60's but back then there were many back East. It seems like many accidents involve impaired drivers, especially the Hit and Runs. The first one I heard Friday was a guy sitting in a blue Subaru in the 3100 Block of State parked there drinking alcohol people saw him sitting there drinking like it was totally normal maybe it is. In the Evening a woman shoplifted Rite Aid on the Mesa, and then ran jumping in her car to get away speeding out of the parking lot she hit a vehicle and kept going. I'm actually not sure if that was a drunk driver or someone losing their marbles. There was a woman drunk as a skunk in the Castillo Underpants in her car so drunk or otherwise unable to drive just sitting there. The Reporting Party was a Rose cab driver she must have been really drunk for a cab driver to call it in, Right after the gal stuck in the Underpants. In the 1100 Block of Quinientos there was a 23152 Drunk Driver into one or two parked vehicles 15 minutes later that guy was still driving around the HOOD trying to get away. That was Friday Evening and all I heard, there was probably more.
Saturday during the Cabrillo street closing there was one on West Mason DUI into a parked car he stayed on scene but the accident was reported as a DUI Driver into a parked car. Why don't people walk? Or take a cab? Or call a friend? Why must they drive under the influence of substances?
Of course there are the other drivers who think they are the only ones allowed on the road. They ignore bicyclists, pedestrians and their rights to be on the road, or crossing the road. I watch everyone like a Hawk even then no one gets it until they crash or run into someone then they only care about themselves. Now bicyclists are taking over the sidewalks because they are afraid of being run over or hit by a car so now the bicyclists are riding reckless and fast on the sidewalks it's like the big fish eating the little fish. Maybe pedestrians ought to start walking the wrong way in bicycle lanes.
Been hearing some 10851 Auto Theft action out there too maybe there's a market out there for stolen auto parts, been hearing of Cadillac Converter thefts. Since the pharm drug busts in IV heard a couple people attempting to forge prescriptions. Years ago I worked for a clinic here doing stock of drugs, doctors supplies. One of the things I had access to were doctor's prescription pads. I thought nothing of them. I signed for all the prescription drugs the thought never crossed my mind to take the drugs or steal anything I stocked. In the same building was a pharmacy and the pharmacy tech was a friend of mine, I thought. I caught him red handed stealing prescription pads out of my stock room. He was totally clean cut and a student at UCSB. Never judge a book by its cover. I busted on him too felt really bad about it but he was stealing from my stock room and I would have been blamed for that.
It's a real drag when you're working somewhere and you know about something that someone else is doing and you keep your mouth shut, mind your own business except the person doing the illegal activity knows you know. You know what they have? They have a Fall Guy, You. It's not COOL to snitch anyone out I covered for someone once because I knew if the boss found out he'd pay the price and I was the Fall Guy I got fired, It wasn't worth it. One of the better Security jobs I did was working for a company in Goleta where I had two hats, Janitor, and undercover security watching the employees I nailed a guy stealing all kinds of stock on that job. Don't ever cover for anyone on a job they will screw you over just about every time. A crook always has an Ace in the hole when someone else knows what he or she did.
