Funeral Service for Firefighter Allen Escobar

Santa Barbara County Fire Department will pay final tribute to Firefighter Allen
Escobar who passed away on Tuesday October 1, 2013. Allen Escobar was 34 years
old and is survived by his wife Tayanna and his two sons Zayden Ruben Escobar
and Santino Cruz Escobar.
Allen was hired at Santa Barbara County Fire Department on April 1, 2002 as a
utility driver, promoted to fire equipment Dozer Swamper in April 2003, and
ultimately became a firefighter on February 13, 2006. Allen was assigned to Fire
Station 12 in Goleta.
Allen received the Fire Chief's Special Recognition Award for his excellent work
on the Office of Emergency Services/Fire Department Wildland Task Force Outreach
Days and his volunteer work on the Annual Safety Fair and Community Emergency
Response Team Programs.
During his career, Allen responded to numerous fires throughout the State of
California as well as locally including the Zaca, Gap, Tea, and Jesusita Fires
Prior to becoming a firefighter, Allen was an active and enthusiastic member of
Santa Barbara County Explorer Post #19. After being hired by the fire
department, Allen continued to mentor Explorers and eventually served as
Allen previously worked for the US Forest Service Los Padres Hotshots, American
Medical Response, and Circuit City. Allen attended the Allan Hancock College
A Fire Department Funeral Service is planned for 10am on Friday, October 11,
2013. The service will take place at the Calvary Chapel of Santa Barbara,
located at 1 North Calle Cesar Chavez in Santa Barbara. An onsite reception is
planned immediately following the Funeral Service.
