Rainbow Trout Arriving at Cachuma

Trout plants are set to begin at Cachuma Lake on Wednesday, November 6 and run through April 2014.
There will be six plants, and each load will include at least four thousand pounds of rainbows. Most of
the plants will be of triploid rainbow trout, which can reach trophy size. Each plant will include 4000 lbs
of 3- to 8-lb fish, and 300 lbs hundred pounds of 9-lb fish or better.

The plant on April 10 is for the 19th annual Trout Derby at Cachuma Lake on April 12 and 13, 2014.
The derby is the annual fundraiser for the Neal Taylor Nature Center at Cachuma Lake. For more

Cachuma Lake also supports populations of large- and smallmouth bass, crappie, and channel catfish.
Fishing from shore in the campground or from a boat is open all year with a valid fishing license. Both
one-day and annual fishing licenses, along with full bait and tackle and boat rentals, can be purchased
from the Cachuma Lake Marina and Boat Rentals, (805) 688-4040. Kayak rentals are also available.
