By Roger the Scanner Guy
Hump Day already. Lucky for some especially those who own a camel. There must be another cruise ship hanging about because they took over a channel on my Copper scanner this morning as I was shopping. They were talking about all the wonderful little activities that cruise ships have and no matter what I did I could not get rid of that channel. It drove me friggen crazy. SNOT only that but I'm walking thru Trader Joes and the hearing jack falls out, so here I am walking around and there's these two voices coming out my backside; a male and a female because I carry the scanner in my back pocket. Here comes the Love Boat. It was kinda embarrassing. I shut it off and now I was alone with my thoughts in a grocery store full of people but that's not so bad as long as I can keep my mind on the food and stop thinking, at least for 20 minutes or so. I did ok after the medication kicked in. I coulda spent my whole day there after that drinking their coffee and shoving samples down my throat but had otter things I had to do. Pet Co and Rite Aid too. Didn't see a whole lot of panhandling going on over there either that was kinda nice. Hopefully I won't have to buy another scanner for a while.
On Posting Code Red Crime Alerts: In the past I posted just about everything I heard that seemed like an emergency will the Powers that Be don't want Rogers Code Red crime alerts taking over Edhat and I don't either. It's hard though, especially when you hear several fights with weapons involved, a stabbing here and there Homeless taking over the Habit a great ending to that would be Dogzilla showing up to eating the jerks taking over the Habit. Sometimes there's so much scrap going on, I start posting everything I hear. I really try not to post suicides and attempts unless they are public. Like someone threatening to jump from a building or a bridge or walking around in possession of a gun; that's different. And as far as Crimes in progress I really like to give the police a chance to catch the crook, and not warn the crook the cops are coming. I know I really don't have to explain myself over and over. The Trolls will continue to attack anyway because that is how they operate; act nice, and then stab you directly in the back. I do my beast at this Scanner Report thing. I always have though it's usually only between the hours of 7am-ish and into the evening and I don't get every single call. I have to go pee pee once in a while. I have to cook, clean up, and yes there are times when I shut the Dog Damn thing off, especially when I hear of a child dying, some suicides, sometimes it's just too much still I have listened and reported every day for over 4 years as far as doing all that I'm not a real journalist from what I gather from at least some of the readers I report more than some of the real journalists. What it all comes down to is "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T READ IT. SIMPLE AS THAT." If you feel like you have to read it like an obsession yet it upsets you to do so and you can't stop, then you're probably crazy and it really should not affect you at all. If you want to hear crime at night get a scanner, or turn the one on you already got. I don't listen to the scanner all night only in my nightmares and Boy! Do I have em! Suicides are up; Burglaries are up, Robberies are up even if they are not all reported, so lock all your stuff up.
