Monday-Monday anutter Monday, and the Sun's still out. I don't know if the vehicle in the 300 Block of
East Valerio was a "Bait Car"; that's a vehicle Baited for theft when a car thief or vehicle burglar comes along and commits their crime, "Whamo!" the coppers get ‘em. Some people might call that entrapment. Personally I call it go get your own damn car, and keep your stinking hands to yourself! You've only got yourself to blame. Not only breaking the law but by getting caught.
My dad used to love to go used car shopping after hours so he didn't have to put up with any pushy salespeople. Most of the time we'd go with him to these little used car lots in the evening to look at our potential new cars. They always left those lights on hundreds of twinkling little light bulbs reflecting off the shiny vehicles, back then in the 50's and 60's cars seemed to shine more. There's something real about ye old days when we didn't have all this technology going out with the family doing "real things". I know some of you remember those days. Looking at new cars, going to local department stores to see all the new things on a Saturday night, ice skating, roller skating, sledding, riding bicycles, playing ball with dad or the neighborhood kids, going on picnics, amusement parks, going out for ice cream, dinner where there was real hamburgers and French fries and chocolate malts, the list goes on.
I used to work nights back in the 80's and I needed a decent car. I used to go over to Chapala Street and cruise around those used car lots that were there looking for possibilities. There was a Ford Fairmont for 700 bucks there I was interested in probably get me 2 blocks before the transmission fell out, but what the heck, I needed a car. So there I was on my night off checking out vehicles. I pulled my car up to the curb parked walked around a bit, noticed that some of the vehicles were unlocked, not only that they had the keys in them! Salesmen must have forgotten to take ‘em out and put ‘em away. Someone's bound to come along find the keys in these vehicles and steal one or two. I had a plastic baggy in my pocket so I went into all the vehicles took the keys and dropped em in the bag I had. I got into the Ford Fairmont, adjusted to seat to fit my size grabbed the key to turn it over see how it sounded but didn't feel right about it the Salesmen not being there and all. I'd come back later when they was open. I got out of the car locked it walked over to the used car office dropped the bag of keys in the mail slot then headed over to my car to head on out. But before I could get there I was met by several undercover police officers who wanted to know what I did with all of the car keys. I told them I put them in a bag and dropped em in the mail slot in the door, and I locked all the vehicle doors too. They were not too happy about that since all of the cars on the lot were Bait cars that night. I think that was way back in the mid 80's 87, 88, somewhere way back there. I tried not to laugh and got the HELL outta there real quick. Nowadays they could rig a car up and park it just about anywhere put some spicy things inside for people to see tempting them to bust in. I'm not sure if this was a Bait vehicle or not it could have been I kinda doubt it though just sounded very well secured from thieves.
Will I might have found me something I could use as a grocery cart so I can get my food from point A to B without taking a cart it's a flat cart about the size of a grocery cart I'm thinking about ordering one, hopefully it won't fall apart as quick as the Ford Fairmont did.
Kind of a weird thing going on three nights this week; a truck looks like a bronze GMC pulled into the Habit across the street after closing time the occupant in the truck looks across the street at the front house and down the driveway for a couple moments then drives off same way he came. I'm not really sure what that's about. 1990'S Chevy or GMC Bronze extended cab pickup truck no camper probably someone that didn't like something I said. I can't do all that physical scrap anymore so they would probably get the best of me there's some incentive.
