By Roger the Scanner Guy
Another Monday-Monday. Hopefully the sun will be shining but it won't be as hot as last week. That's NOT the weather, just my hope. I was craving one of those big old soda pops covered in ice on Saturday so I went across the street to the big Circle K. It wasn't that packed a couple people when I went in, I walked around a bit looking for something I could have something sugar free, I took my time by the time I got done there were 3 people in line. More started coming in behind me there was a line. Over by the hotdogs, the ones that look like they have been cooking there for 3 days, was this big skin headed guy with a tattoo covering his head. He had other tats too; on his legs and arms. He looked to be about 6 feet 270 and pretty solid. He cut in front of everyone; even me, but I moved forward and wouldn't let him. Between being a pedestrian in Santa Barbara, writing the scanner reports, being put down, bullied and occasionally threatened by macho wannabe dimwits, I don't let anyone take advantage of me anymore. Sometimes I let someone cut in front of me by saying "You got less than me, go for it." Or if someone's in a hurry I let them go but this guy was none of those he was big intimidating looking and he was going to use it to cut in front of everyone. The clerk, who is also the manager, said "Next" and gave the guy a look as if he wasn't next. He began to step forward to take my spot but I took a bigger step so he got behind me. As I was leaving, I turned and looked at him, then behind him a line had formed, longer now; maybe 8 to 12 people, not one of them protesting that he had cut in front of them. I wondered if they were afraid, or just didn't care. He actually looked slightly ashamed for a second them bellowed out "So how have you been?!" to the manager. Who knew what the guy did but seemed to just want to get him outta there. It was interesting not one person spoke up. I expected at least one to say "Hey wait a minute there!" But nothing. Not a word. I wondered if maybe those people expected someone else to do something, it kinda looked that way I went on my merry way.
I'm still hearing the calls on Sunday a male left an infant in a blue Mustang with the windows rolled up at the Double Tree sounds like he maybe had a hot date and decided to leave the kid in the car with no air. I didn't hear any more about the call so maybe by the time the police got there he had gone hopefully he won't do something stupid like that again even for a second because that is all it takes. There was a god locked in a van call also in the 1700 Block of State street is that anyway to treat your god?

Very early Sunday morning around 4 am or so a woman called a man way up yonder there in North County and said that she was on Highway One somewhere between Guadalupe and Santa Maria on foot, and a Coyote was chasing her. Usually if a guy gets a call like that he don't think twice he grabs the keys and goes. This guy called 911 and they went. A little while later the girl calls back and says she got a ride by a passerby. Sounds real fishy to me. Like someone's gonna get in a passerby's car on a dark road at 4 in the morning. People used to do that in the 70's and were never seen again. But then again maybe she was really being chased by a coyote.

Some of the names people who live in homes in Santa Barbara call houseless people, Wow. I wrote transients because that is what I hear on the Scanner but calling someone a transient to me sounds like calling someone a cockroach and that ain't right it doesn't feel right to me. I was homeless before myself mostly when I was under age. Homeless people are not bad but the way they are described here by a few Holier than Thou's, they sound like SATAN! Come on get off your High Horses get closer to the ground. Criminals can be anywhere and anyone someday a homeless person just might save your life. I did stop calling homeless people transients for a while then Boycott Boy pissed me off so in his honor I went back to calling the homeless transients for a while but I don't like it. I'll probably stop. Anyway I'm only human not perfect nor ever will be. ENOUGH outta me for now. Have a Great Monday and Dog Willing Well see you on Wednesday. Later, Roger
