UCSB Vandalism Arrest

On 8/19/2013, at approximately 6:00 pm, University of California Police Officers responded to a
report of a male subject vandalizing a window at the UCSB Engineering and Sciences Building. Within
minutes, university police officers were able to take the male subject into custody without further incident.
The individual taken into custody has been identified as former UCSB employee, Neil Paul Baker who has
remained a person of concern.
Due to Mr. Baker's possible presence within the UCSB Engineering and Sciences Building as a precautionary
measure, the facility was searched and rendered safe. Mr. Baker is in police custody and will be charged
with felony vandalism and trespassing. There were no injuries and no weapons found at the scene.
Increased police patrols will be conducted and updates will be provided to the campus community. The
campus continues to take all precautionary measures and legal remedies available.
