Where to advertise condo for sale?
updated: Jul 13, 2013, 3:08 PM

Since some seniors do not use the internet, where can I advertise my condo for sale? Tried the News Press but would like to put ad where seniors are looking.

Try it anyway. Sons and daughters will tell mom or dad what's for sale if they know they are looking. Try Craigs List too.

The libraries usually have a table or rack with free publications, among them Casa Magazine; the Mesa newspaper; and the Successful Aging paper for seniors. You could run ads in these. Also, are there bulletin boards where seniors congregate? Goleta Valley Community Center, for example?

I suspect most sellers go through the MLS to list their properties for sale and most buyers also go that route and don't waste time in places that also advertise sports equipment, used bikes, cars and appliances.

But if you're trying to save yourself the commission for a real estate agent why not try Craigslist and Ebay but I hope you know what you're doing and are adequately covering your liability exposures.

Put it in the News Press in the condos for sale section.

Look up FSBO - for sale by owner, and see what you can come up with. California real estate law is fraught with details so make sure you are operating in a good comfort zone to pull this off. Buyers sue at the drop of the hat, if they feel they got misled or defrauded by failed disclosures.

I'm a senior, and I and the majority of my peers use the internet extensively. You are going to miss some group, no matter what media you use.

Put flyers in the waiting rooms of every doctor in town.

Go with a real, real estate agent.
I'm not a senior, use the internet extensively, and I don't trust these FSBO or blind Craig's list ads. You're wasting your time with that.
Too many scams going on these days. If there's a problem I want the name of the agency behind the sale--so I know who to go after.

List it with a Realtor

Find a realtor you like and trust. It's much safer and will be far easier unless you like dealing with lots of strange people.

29 and others are giving you some excellent advice. You cannot believe how many scam artists and weird people you will meet if you try to sell it yourself. There are some really complex scams involving an "out of country buyer" with "cash" who wants a quick all cash sale sight unseen. Our realtor ran into one when our home was listed and thank goodness knew about the scam and how it worked and saved us from it.

A good realtor is the only way to go and we have many in this town.
