Office Star at Solstice Parade

The Summer Solstice Festival officially opens on Friday, June 21, from 4:00 PM to 9 PM in Alameda Park, with non-stop entertainment featuring music and ensembles from the parade plus the band electric- house-rock band Tropo from San Luis Obisbo.

Saturday, June 22, the 39th Annual Solstice Parade begins at State and Cota at noon, moves up State Street to the festival continues with a full line up of entertainment in Alameda Park on the main stage until 8 PM, and music on the Children's Stage until 6 PM.

Sunday, June 23rd, the Solstice Festival will feature rock icon from the 60's Creed Bratton. Creed is from the 60's rock group "The Grassroots". For the past nine years, Creed Bratton has become well known as an actor in the NBC comedy "The Office", playing himself as an eccentric quality control director with a rock n' roll past. The series came to an end on May 16, featuring Creed's song "All the Faces", which entered the iTunes top 100 at #26.

Creed joined the Grass Roots in its third incarnation in 1966 and stayed with the group until 1969. He had always wanted to be an actor and he began pursuing that as a career. Now that the Office is over, Creed is focusing on music. Releasing his sixth solo album, "Tell Me About It", Creed calls this album autobiographical, as he "returns to his roots".

Creed Bratton and the Rubbermen include Dave Way, Dillon O'Brian, Billy Harvey, Dan Schwartz, Brian Macleod.

All of the arts and crafts booths, food booths, and beer and wine garden will be open for all three days of the Festival. Seventy-five decorative and visual fine artists from around the country will have their distinctive one-of-a-kind works on display at this year's festival.

On Friday and Saturday June 22 and 23rd, the Solstice Children's Festival is open from noon until 6:00 PM with a variety of family and children's activities, free art projects, booths, musical entertainment. The community mural on Sunday will be under the direction of mural artist Carlos Cuellar, and anyone can join in the fun.
