"Chuck Cagara was too lazy to venture out to find a pleasing composition, so he just aimed his camera
west across neighborhood roof lines. The first photo gives a sense of scale between Comet PANSTARRS
and the New Moon." (By Chuck Cagara)

"Here's a photo of the actual comet with the moon. This was taken at UCSB near Campus Point at 7:53pm. I used a Sony DSC-HX30V (point-and-shoot,
not SLR) at f5.6 for 3 seconds at ISO 400. I thought I saw it as a naked-eye object for a bit. It was visible in binoculars and a small telescope." (By Yvonne
DeGraw)

By an Edhat subscriber: "Tuesday evening made for interesting viewing of comet PANSTARRS (C/2011 L4) which was near the almost new
moon. We observed the comet from a turnout on Gibraltar Road near the antenna farm along with a handful of other folks. You should have good viewing of
the comet for another few days. You need binoculars, preferably with 30mm or larger objective. It was such a beautiful evening, we hung around for another
hour looking at other sky objects like the Andromeda galaxy (M31). Just to the right of the Andromeda galaxy, you can see M110 (dim fuzzy blob). The
streaks are either satellites or meteors. The city below was another pretty site. The images are a chopped up panorama shot sweeping from Santa Barbara
to Goleta. Why the whackos didn't come out of the woodwork predicting gloom and doom was quite surprising since the comet, moon, Uranus, and Mars
were all bunched up together (within 7 degrees). If you're wondering about technical details, the EXIF data can be read from these images. The comet shot is
a stack of 5 images to reduce noise."
