Two Alarm Residential Structure Fire

At 4:03 am, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD) responded to a two story residential
structure fire, located at 720 Ribera Drive in the unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County. SBCFD responded six engines, an Air/Light
Unit, a ladder truck, and a battalion chief to the scene. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department
and the California Highway Patrol provided traffic control. An American Medical Response ambulance
was called to stand by.
Upon arrival to the scene, firefighters found heavy fire showing from the front of the home in the garage
area. The fire quickly spread to the second floor of the home. The fire was knocked down at 4:48 am.
Eight residents were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the
residents. The Goleta City Building Department was also notified.
Crews will remain on scene throughout the morning overhauling the fire. The home had no working
smoke detectors. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
