At 4:10pm this afternoon, 911 dispatchers received multiple calls reporting a boat fire near the Sea
Landing in the Santa Barbara Harbor. Harbor Patrol Boat 3, SB City Engine 6, Engine 1 and Truck 1 with
Battalion Chief 712 were on the initial dispatch. With smoke visible from a long distance away, Battalion
712 requested 2 additional engine companies to respond. Harbor patrol officers on Boat 3 were the first to
arrive on scene at the Sea Landing and found a fire onboard the Condor Express. Harbor Patrol officers
immediately began a firefighting operation from their vessel. An off-duty San Francisco firefighter assisted
with initial fire attack on the 75 foot vessel by utilizing a wet-standpipe firehose from the dock. Santa
Barbara City Fire resources arrived and advanced additional handlines to complete the fire knockdown at
4:21pm. The fire was contained to a second deck interior cabin and navigation area. Firefighters remained
on scene for 90 minutes to complete overhaul of the fire area and to assist Santa Barbara City Fire and
Coast Guard fire investigators with determining cause and origin of the fire. This fire remains under
investigation.
