Location: Hollister Avenue westbound, east of San Antonio Road

On March 7, 2013, at approximately 10:10 pm, Salvador Banda (32) of Santa Barbara attempted to cross Hollister Avenue, just east of San Antonio Road. Mr. Banda was not in a crosswalk as he made his way into the westbound traffic lanes in front of an approaching Subaru wagon, driven by a female* (27) of Santa Barbara. The female vehicle struck Mr. Banda, resulting in major injuries to him. Mr. Banda was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he was ultimately admitted into the intensive care unit. At the time of the collision, there was heavy rainfall occurring.

With regards to the female driver, it was determined alcohol and or drugs were not a factor in this collision.
