Planning to be in the area around the 24th of the month. Can anyone say whether the falls are wet or dry at
the moment?

Be nice - OP said they're not in the area. Why is mean the default reaction here? We got an inch of rain in the mountains over the past 24 hours, so at this moment I would guess wet. Whether they're wet on the 24th would be just a guess. If we get more rain, I would say yes, but this punch we got could spend most of itself by then.

693 - I woke up last night to the largest downpour in SB I've seen since the El Nino storms in 1995. It was coming down hard enough that there was at over an inch of standing water in our the middle of our street, which normally drains well. Huge seems like an apt description for that downpour. Totals in town over the past 24 hours are over 1/2-inch in town and over an inch in the mountains, per the county website.

Last time I went up there I was a bit disappointed. It's called Tangerine Falls and there were neither tangerines or falls, except for the fall I took climbing around those rocks (don't worry I'm fine, but thank you for your momentary subconscious concern). Unless there is substantial rain in the next couple weeks, anything short of a recent (3-5 days) storm will mean there will probably be just a little stream flowing down the rock face and the hike will not live up to it's name, unless you or someone in your party slips and falls... or brings a tangerine.

@712: It's not named Tangerine Falls after the fruit, it's named after the mineral deposits in the water that have colored the rock face of the falls somewhat orange... or, Tangerine....

Yep, huge rains yesterday. OP asked about falls being wet or dry "at the moment"; the falls are wet at this moment. What's up with the hypersensitive and gentle readers, with a hypersensitive and gentle Nanny? This ain't happy hour. And this post is removed in...

Tangerine Falls refers to the orange colored rocks around the Falls. With the rain we got last night, there might be more than a trickle. Hard to say by the 24th...either way, it's a wonderful, albeit challenging hike. It is beautiful to visit, water or not. Enjoy!

Monsoonal rain, really? And there is NO WAY this was the hardest rain since '95. What a bunch of exaggerators.

Tangerine falls is a huge misnomer begun in the last ten years or so. How anyone can get from pale orange algae to the tangerine moniker is beyond me, maybe she dropped her tangerine and it rolled down irretrieveable into fallingrock gully. There is always some water there, at least in my experience I have never seen it dry. If you want a gusher, must go within a few days of heavy rain in a dry year like this. S'Auntie Barbara

Be sure you realize that the hike to Tangerine Falls is not an easy one. A tough creak crossing (if the water is at all high), slippery sections if it's rained recently and rock scrambling makes for a strenuous hike. It's not a problem for anyone used to hiking, but also not a good novice hike. An easier waterfall to hike to is San Ysidro Falls. Shorter and easier trail. It may only be a trickle this year due to the low rainfall, but still pretty to see. Enjoy your hike!
