Costco's Trusted Home Service Store
updated: Mar 05, 2013, 2:34 PM

We would like to hear about any experiences Edhat readers have had, either positive or negative, using
"Trusted Home Service Store " to select contractor/pay for installing products, such as replacement
windows, bought from Costco.
Do they hire a local contractor/installer (we would like to see the benefit go to someone local, but still get
the rebate advantage of using Costco)?

If you want the benefit to go to someone local then buy your windows from a local company and hire a local contractor to install them. Costco probably does the same as Home Depot, The installers come from Los Angeles

My friend had a regrettable experience with them. Out of town too.

Do yourself a big favor and get an estimate from Rigo, with Bella View Windows. Great local company, very reasonable with excellent service and installation. I've used them several times, recommend them highly.

We used one of Costco's services a few years ago for window dressing (i.e. blinds.) The Company was independent of Costco (Costco basically provided the referral) They came to our house, evaluated our needs and gave us an estimate. Then, the Costco discount applied to their total. The process was very smooth and easy for us. We live in the Thousand Oaks area.

If it's replacement windows you want, we also went directly with Bella View in Goleta and would do it again without a second thought. We did use Costco when we wanted new closets (California Closets) and that went fine. On another note, we had a major problem with the local service rep for a TV bought at Costco and were VERY grateful we had Costco's Concierge Service (a different service I know) which weighed in on the problem and got it sorted out. I imagine risking a contract with Costco would be enough to keep any third party company eager to solve a customer's problem.
