Touch-Up Car Paint
updated: Mar 05, 2013, 1:30 PM
Does anyone know of a local automotive supply store that sells touch-up
paint for cars? I called the Honda dealership, but they didn't know. I'd
rather buy local than online.

Honda can order paint to the exact match by the code on your door. If they don't know this, then they don't deserve your business. Just about any paint and body or parts store can order it too. You probably won't find an exact match in stock because of the vast number of colors and variance codes out there.

Pep Boys, Autozone, and Kragen all carry touch up paint. Your car's door jamb should have a label identifying the exact color you need, and when I touched tried it, the match was perfect. You'll never get it exactly the same due to the fact that the scratched area doesn't have a clear coat, but probably nobody will notice but you.

I recently bought touch up paint for my Highlander at the Toyota Dealer. They were able to match it by the Number on my door. They also recommended a clear touch up as the 2nd step. It was a perfect match.

If the car is over a few years old, you can't match it perfectly due to fading. But it's better than nothing.

The Honda dealership didn't know what color touch up paint you needed for your Honda?

Most every dealer including our Honda dealership can get touch up paint in the nail polish type bottles. Kragen/ oreillys can be it too. Same with central city like stated in another post. Was the op asking for a quart to touch up an entire panel? That's the only thing that would make the dealer say go elsewhere, unless you were asking for a Toyota color from a Honda dealer

We bought some touch up paint for a 98 Camry from the Toyota dealership. Saw some paint that seemed similar at Pep Boys, etc, but decided to go with the dealership and were pleased with the results.

I have seen touch up paint at auto zone. They have a guide to use to look up your color. Actually the code number is on the door hinge?

Wow, shockingly bad response from the Honda dealership, or at least the person you talked to.
