DUI Checkpoint Results

As part of Goleta's commitment to public safety, Goleta Police conducted a
sobriety and driver's license checkpoint on Friday, March 1st. The checkpoint
was held between 7:00pm and 3:00am at Storke Road @ Phelps Road in the City of
Goleta. This operation was one of many that have or will be conducted
throughout the year in the City of Goleta. Here are the results of the
checkpoint:

Vehicles Screened: 941

DUI Arrests: 2

Driving without a Valid Driver's License: 5

Driving with a suspended driver's license: 2

Vehicles Impounded for 30 days: 2

Vehicles Impounded for 1 day: 3

Other Misdemeanor arrest: 1

Miscellaneous citations: 2

Driver's Evaluated for DUI (Alcohol / Drugs) 18 (Drivers under the influence of
alcohol, but

not determined to be DUI)

Diego Alejandro Orkiz (03-15-93) of Santa Barbara was arrested for DUI.

Noe Aguilar-Vega (06-02-94) of Ventura was arrested for DUI.

Jeffrey Addison Sellars (12-16-90) of Santa Barbara was arrested for Failing to
Follow a Lawful Order of a Peace Officer

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic
Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office for police
services.
