Brawlin' Betties

Now I know what PIVOT, BLOCKERS and JAMMERS are. . .after spending an exciting two hours at the Saturday Roller Derby from 5-7 p.m. last night at Earl Warren Show Grounds! NOT the roller derby I remember seeing on TV in my youth, but still lots of strategy, action, humor and strong women competing with other like-minded gals! We went on a whim, encouraged by the proud mom of one of the Brawlin' Betties, and came away with a smile on our faces. They even have ANNOUNCERS, LIGHTS, SPONSORS, a DRAWING, and OFFICIAL REF'S (coaches and former derby or hockey players). We loved cheering for the Brawlin' Betties and discovering a new form of entertainment at "Skatin' la Vida LOCa" March 2nd! OF COURSE, the BETTIES WON by a mile!
