March 3, 2013 - Shore Birds

This has been a far too active week in Santa Barbara. Is this a record for the most structure fires in one week? Between all of the arrests, mysterious disappearances, fires, various emergency responses around town, and oh yes fires, we hope that next week will be far less active. Kudos to all the emergency personnel and Edhatters who kept us posted on the most up to date information.

On a lighter note, March Edness will start on Monday at midnight. Get ready! We'd also like to introduce Jenny Schlax to the Edhat team. She will be covering the local music scene and shows.

Our Dog of the Week is Daisy Mae, a soft hearted therapist who is no stranger to Edhat. Our Cat of the Week is Riley, a hilarious Lenin impersonator on the weekends. Our Non-Profit of the Week is the the Anti-Defamation League who fight against anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry. David Powdrell goes bird watching and checks out the Rincon Classic. Jenny Schlax reviews the Girls Rock SB concert and Fred gets fired up about banking.

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

POWDRELL: Today is the first day of the 2013 Rincon Classic and David Powdrell shares his photos.

The Indie Film Guru shares the recent DVD releases of some award winning films.

Fired Up!: Fred is back to warn the Edhat community about banks stealing our hard- earned money.

MUSIC: Welcome our new Edhat Music Columnist, Jenny Schlax. She's here with her first review of Girls Rock SB!

POWDRELL: So here's the deal, simple things in life seem to captivate me more and more. Maybe that comes with growing older. [pics]

NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK: The Anti-Defamation League fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry in the U.S. and abroad through information, education, legislation, and advocacy.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Daisy Mae, an Edhat veteran and certified therapy dog. [vid]

CAT OF THE WEEK: Meet Riley, the black and white cat who looks a lot like Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.

Here is the Daily Edhat newsletter for 03/02/13

MARCH EDNESS: March Edness is back again starting Monday March 4th! Are you ready? Check out the rules to refresh your memory.
