A lot depends on the quality, the style and how it looks. Different dealers focus on these values differently. But if you have good photos taken to emphasize the quality and design put them up on Craigslist to see who shows an interest, but your pricepoint is should be reasonable.

Best to have an expert in antiques to inspect and put a tentative value on the furniture.

Agree with 986. My house is filled with Italian "antiques" collected by my mother and some by my grandmother. Unfortunately, many Italian antiques, if purchased in Italy around the 1920s, are fine looking but are actually not antiques, simply made of antique pieces from other disintegrating furniture. Once I was shown the details on my furniture I could see clearly that they were not wholly antique. Antique Alley is not the place to get an opinion. Go to a real antiques dealer or appraiser. Then later you can figure out how to sell.

don't go to an "antique store" either, they usually have garage sale items they call antique when they are really just now called "vintage" which sounds nicer than "used".

Check with Elizabeth, a certified appraiser. She definitely knows the business and is honest and helpful. ElizabethAppraisals@gmail.com

If they are very old and early you might want to consider putting them into auction. I work with Bonhams auction house in LA - if interested call me @ 805. 565.3726 Locally, you could check with Michael Haskell antique dealer in Montecito if they are very fine pieces.

Don't bother with Craigslist for these. Things with a higher price will just attract spammers. I tried selling an antique French couch on CL a couple months ago and got 23 emails. All 23 were scams! Didn't get a single real inquiry.

There are a lot of Italians who live locally. Talk to Neil (The local history buff's sister) Graffy. She may know who to refer you to.

Jim Main Antiques. Although he told me the furniture market isn't what it was years ago. If you think your pieces are great, I'd definitely take the auction route. Craigslist list is great, but people at auctions would probably pay more for real quality.
