updated: Mar 01, 2013, 9:20 AM

Does anyone know what restaurant (or even premade at a grocery store) serves a delicious Beef Wellington?

No restaurant in Santa Barbara has "Beef Wellington" on the menu.

Go to Chucks, order a random steak of the menu, and slug a beer instead.

Ha! You should try to get on the list of diners at Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen. For some reason they always have beef wellington on the menu!

I used to enjoy the Beef Wellington with a very nice Yorkshire pudding up the coast at "The Carmel Butcher Shop."

That was years ago, though.

They have it on the menu at Hells Kitchen because it's not an easy dish to make especially under pressure while trying to coordinate everything.

I've heard it being served at the bacara before, but couldn't tell if you it's a buffett type thing or on a menu.

You can order frozen ones from Williams Sonoma. Just OK for the price though.

Darn! I've been craving it for a long time, but I dont have the skill to try to make it and I don't want to bother anyone else to try to make it -- FOR me! Haha. I'll check out the bacara though, thanks!

Someone asked about this before here and I remember some people saying San Ysidro Ranch had it sometimes.

But, yes, I would LOVE to try one! However, I think the original recipe calls for foie gras coating the piece of filet before being baked.....YUMMMMMMMY

And we all know, that's no longer allowed....

Also, Holdren's advertised it for Valentine's Day. I suggest you contact them and ask when they'll offer it as a special.

Beef Wellington is not that difficult to make really. It's more about oven temp and cook time. Quality cuts of meat ensure outcome of course. Try to make it at home for a couple's or family culinary adventure. Yorkshire pudding is very easy to prep. I do mine in a simple blender, then use beef or bacon fat as my base in mini muffin pans. Spoon your batter over the fat and bake until spilling over and browning on top. Voila!

I've actually made Ramsey's Wellington recipe and it came out fantastic! The key is to get the best cut of filet. IMO El Rancho in Santa Ynez has the best beef selections... their filets are top notch.

413, can you tell me where you found the recipe? I can't seem to locate it online.

I've made it (long ago). It's not hard but labor-intensive. I used my homemade chicken liver pate instead of foie gras and it was delicious.
