Scanner Reports 3-2-13
updated: Mar 01, 2013, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

FRYday It's about time. Even though were all sort of stuck in this place together no matter what happened during the week, FRYday is the end of the week, the caboose. Now it's time to party. To HELL with all the other stuff it's time to LET IT GO even if it's for 20 minutes. I have things going on sometimes they get better sometimes worse when they get worse I turn into a giant crab. I start thinking about everything other people have and what I never have had, and at this point never will have. I have to learn how to be grateful for what I do have. There are people out there that have never had what I have, and never will either. So where I'm at really isn't all bad. Until I turn into the Giant CRAB.

I was reading about Santa Cruz awhile back because a homeless feller told me that there's a big bowel movement up there to get rid of homeless people probably putting ‘em on the Greyhound for Santa Barbara, that's how I got here the last time. A preacher up there in Monterey bought me a nonrefundable ticket to Santa Barbara been here ever since. People on both sides of the issue seemed to get into a name calling thing, and as usual when people start ranting and raving at each otter they forget what the real issues are and it pretty much goes to HELL. That is kinda where I stopped reading. The other night while listening to the scanner I heard this Be on the Lookout go out from Santa Cruz for the suspect in the killing of two Santa Cruz police officers. The first description I heard was that of possibly a transient male Long hair. Mid 20's with a back pack, then I heard there was possibly a car involved. They got their man about a half hour after he gunned down the officers he got it too. He was a sex offender, a peeper, a military veteran with a lot of guns. Besides these two homicides Santa Cruz has had 3 other recent homicides the other murders sound kinda like drive-bys just the way it read.

When I first read that Santa Cruz has had a recent spike in violent crime I thought here too. Ours is nothing like theirs. We have had robberies, assaults, stabbings, and one murder as far as I know unless they happen at night when I'm asleep. We don't have their problems but we could real easy. Someone posted this "There were police cars at this place does anyone know what happened." Thread and someone else said "Who cares it's the East Side." I find that funny because years ago when some of our honorable city people put the plans through for the shelter they thought by putting it down here on the lower East Side in the industrial section that any problems associated with the homeless would stay down here, and not end up in their BACK YARD. Will guess what it's SNOT just the East Side anymore, it's all over. In fact compared to some HOODS considered to be safer than mine in Santa Barbara, I hear more Scanner Traffic. My HOOD is safer than otters. I hear Scanner Traffic at the shelter all the time but it's pretty much contained there.

The problems at 211 South Milpas have calmed a bit, I know there will always be someone crashing around there. If I was homeless I'd sleep there. Especially since no one has fixed the back fence yet I can't remember who is supposed to fix it. I remember when someone from over there drove thru the fence into our driveway destroying that part of the fence. It took a long time for it to get fixed. If we would have destroyed that fence it would have been done the next day. If one of us couldn't fix it my land lord would be out there with a hanger trying to get it together. He is 84 years old and in better shape than the rest of us put together. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw him out there surfing one of these days.
