Sinton Rd. Fire Cause Determined

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department investigators have determined that the cause of the structure fire that occurred at 2105 Sinton Road in Santa Maria earlier today was a result of a hot works operation.

After conducting an investigation, the fire originated inside a wall of a large empty storage building. A salvage company has been in the process of dismantling and salvaging metal equipment. The fire was confined to one small section of a wall.

There were no injuries reported.

No other information will be released concerning the investigation.
