Eastside Water Pressure
updated: Feb 26, 2013, 2:56 PM

Is anyone on the East side having problems with their water pressure? Ours is very low but the meter reads
that the water is running strong, it's abnormal.

You might have a break or leak between the meter and your house...worth getting a plumber out to check, that could end up being a very expensive thing

What part of the Eastside are you on? There are two different pressure zones over there, or maybe more.

Roger, the water pressure at 200 S. Milpas st. should be 145 psi. Most times the house regulator is the problem and it needs to be cleaned.

Roger, don't let the naysayers get you down. You have a firm base of people who appreciate you, your comments, your insight, your humor and your experience. Don't respond to the baiters.

If you are allocated 10 units and are using 170, you have a big leak on the property.

Roger, check all the hose bibs for hoses. There is a trick I learned years ago about people stealing water for their neighbors. They turn off their meter and use water from your meter via a hose to hose connection. 170 unit X 748 gallons = 127,160 gallons per month. That is a lot of water to be used, especially if you can't find a leak.

Make sure the house regulator valve is working properly. Our street just above Milpas has water pressure that would burst all the house's pipes if we hadn't installed a regulator to lower the water pressure, and we still get burst pipes out in the yard, on the other side of the regulator valve. If you take a couple of hours watching your water meter with all your water turned off, you can extrapolate from the flow rate's numbers whether you have a leak. The leak is not a city responsibility, by the way, so you'll need to find and pay a plumber yourself to fix it.
