Someone asked me recently where to hear jazz in Santa Barbara, and I realized I had no idea. Is there a
jazz club or restaurant that regularly features jazz in town?

The James Joyce on state st is just about the only bar that might fit what you are looking for.. Although they are not a dedicated "jazz club" the do have great music all the time..

Soho usually has jazz on Monday nights, and sometimes other nights as well. I always enjoy it there.

Brewhouse gets a variety of quite impressive different style bands playing several nights a week. Jazz, blues, rock, swing, etc. Good music, food, and cocktails (or wine or beer, if you prefer)...

How I wish there were a jazz radio station available locally, even if part time. Dunno why podcasts aren't as easy for me.

532P: If you're okay with streaming stuff via Internet, or maybe that's the same as podcasts for you, tons of jazz-themed radio stations online, especially many based in Europe. Some of my favorites are the Danish National Radio Service and a station based in the Netherlands: http://www.dr.dk/radio/ http://www.concertzender.nl/

I'd be curious to know, too, but so that I could avoid the places. Jazz is like cilantro or beets, either you like it or you don't.

In the summer, Anderson's Bakery has a jazz trio every Sunday afternoon and occasional gigs throughout the year. It's the Nicole Lvoff trio and they also have a show coming up at Soho in July. Google Nicole Lvoff for her website and videos

We used to have good jazz on lower State. SB Jazz Society is great, KCSB (91.9 FM) is awesome, is now having a fundraiser, music included in gifts to subscribers. Sunshine Steve, Corey Dubin, Coyote Radio (probably many others) have great collections - not the live club scene, just great sounds.

There's all kinds of jazz. I always like Brubeck's Take Five, but some just seems monotonous.

Check out the new itinerary at the UPTOWN Lounge Justin Claveria and Band play on Wednesdays, awesome jazz and jazz at it finest as Justin is a fabulous sax player."Uptown Lounge, 3126 State Street, with my amazing trio: Myself on tenor sax, Mark Zier on key/bass(of Mary Wilson/The Supremes), & Dave Karasoni (of the Rippingtons & Keiko Matsui) on drums." from Justin's facebook page.
