There is some strange shiny thing above the mountains right now that is flashing. It is way high in the sky
and is moving but only about a tiny bit. It's been there for about 10 min. at least. Anyone else see it?

Can the OP narrow down the location? Which part of the "mountains"? I'm not being snarky, but I just went out to look, but don't know what direction I should be looking....

OP here. No. It was NOT the sun. However, I got video of it. Strangest thing I have EVER seen.

Is it the morning sun reflecting off of the wings and bellies of high-flying aircraft? I've been fooled by that as well.

OP here. Not sure if I can (it's a big file) and I am not a member so...But I did send it to KEYT so I guess if they think it's odd enough they'll show it. I have looked at it half dozen times now and it is REALLY strange. I just can't imagine what the hell it is or how it can do those types of maneuvers.

Maybe one of those big mylar balloons filled with helium. The wind might be causing the strange movements you mentioned.

Isn't it strange how poorly-worded, vague, hysterical postings like this show up on Edhat when the MUFON yo-yos are in town trying to extract money from the gullible?

Did you give it to KEYT because it'll never see the light of day? I wouldn't give that place a darn thing. That's what the draw of (most) blogs are- news orgs haven't reported anything of real interest in their own communities for decades. If they do, it'll be after they've made sure it's not going to subvert their overall messaging to the sheeple.

Sorry about that-we're having trouble with our invisible shield again! The strange movements were because I let Trixie fly. That said, I hope that Edhat posts your video.

I saw this after I dropped my daughter off at La Colina Jr High. I figured it was a bundle of metallic coated birthday balloons accidentally let go by a student. LCJH has a tradition that when a kid has a birthday they are sent to school with a bundle of balloons. Balloons are fun, don't criticize them when they float away in the sky.

OP: It would be helpful in identifying your sighting if you would please add information as to from where you saw it and where it appeared. For example: "At 8:00 AM 2/23/13, I was in La Cumbre Plaza's parking lot, standing in front of Von's and looking due north over the mountains, I saw small, bright, white flashes that may have been reflected sunlight."

Hey, OP: If EdHat won't post it and you're set on the KEYT thing, you can use their "YouNews" area and post it to the KEYT website yourself. If it gets any kind of a decent viewer response, KEYT will then most likely (steal it) show it on their TV broadcast. Good luck--I'd be interested to see what it is, too.

Probably reflection from a window! The wind blowing on the glass deflects it and causes the reflection angle to change. Results in flickering, flashing light. The angle may seem wrong for a simple reflection, but windows in upscale homes can be mounted at different angles to optimize visibility of the islands, or whatever. From a single location, the reflection may only occur when the sun is at a specific angle (two days of the year). -Garfield
