A little after 1pm this afternoon a 911 call was received from neighbors noticing smoke coming from a
residence in the 4200 Block of Pozo Circle on the St. Vincent property located off Calle Real. Engine 4, 5, 3
with Truck 1 and Battalion Chief 712 responded to the incident. Smoke was reported by the Engine 4
Captain upon arrival. Fire crews found a well involved dryer in the laundry room of the residence. A pre-
connect hose line was deployed to extinguish the fire. The gas to the residential complex was turned off as
a precaution and the dryer was removed from the structure. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to
check for fire extension into the walls. Fire damage was limited to the washer/dryer unit with light smoke
damage to the laundry room. A fire investigator was called to the scene. Tenants reported having on-going
mechanical issues with the dryer. The cause of the fire was determined to be mechanical failure.
