Glass Cutting
updated: Feb 18, 2013, 8:22 PM
I know Glass Cutting has been addressed before and there were a couple
of suggestions. I'm looking for a small piece to enclose a shadow box,
less than 8" x 8" and was surprised the custom framing section of
Michael's wouldn't do it. A&B Glass the only place? Thanks all!

Home Improvement should. If not, then JNL Glass on Santa Barbara St across from Smart & Final.

Ace does it, you can probably use an off cut and pay a dollar a cut I believe.

962-3608 A & B Glass on Gutierrez St (one way). Between Quarantina and Olive St (or thereabouts), on north/right side of street. Nicest people and great prices on glass and cutting glass. My friend's a builder and he'll only use these guys. He says they're the best.

any "real" frame shop* would be happy to do it for you - maybe even free of charge if you've got the glass to cut down. *Aaron Bros. and Michaels aren't real frame shops...

I have bought custom glass at OSH in Goleta several times... Takes just a few minutes and it is pretty affordable.

That glass place on De La Vina - up by Chubbies, nearish to the Trader Joes on DLV. They will cut you any size you need. Just this week had them cut me a tiny tempered glass piece for a special display box. They also cut me two odd-sized window panes to replace broken door glass and an old window. Locally owned, support this guys, please! I will go back for sure.

Santa Barbara Stained Glass can do that for you. Ask for John, he's very helpful. 4129 State near the bottom of San Marcos Pass and near Palapa a great mexican restaurant.

Avoid the window and frame shop on De la Vina (across and down from TJs), they will charge you an arm and a leg for 2bit piece of glass.
