February 17, 2013 - Shining Bright

It sure has felt like summer the past few days in Santa Barbara with temperatures reaching into the high 70s. It's been a nice break from the cold and windy nights but the forecast is calling for rain in a few days so we better soak it up while it lasts. Enjoy the tank tops and flip flops before the clouds roll through.

In Edhat news, our Dedicated Staff have been diligently working to find the most interesting columns for our loyal Edhat subscribers. This week we introduce Fired Up Fred, a long-standing member of Santa Barbara living in a retirement community who has a lot to say on just about everything. If you have a rant or would like Fred to talk about your rant, send it to ed@edhat.com. Our staff will print it out and deliver it to him for review. After all, he's not too sure how to work those "computer doohickeys."

Our Dog of the Week is Cinco, an adorable Cuban Havanese. Our Cat of the Week is Onyx, the original coffee cat. Montecito Trails Foundation is our Non-Profit of the Week, offering 200 miles of scenic hiking trials. Don't forget to go out and take a look at the Moon with binoculars or a telescope today between noon and 4 pm for the Lunar X. Lauren reviewed Harry's Plaza Cafe which resulted in an upset stomach later that night, Fired Up Fred is sick and tired of CVS not fully stocking their shelves, and the Indie Film Guru reviewed "War Witch."

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

The tragic story of sub-Saharan Africa's child soldiers is brought to life in War Witch.

Lauren: With another restaurant review, Lauren is reminded why she only drinks at Harry's Plaza Cafe.

On Sunday, February 17, between noon and 4 PM, go out and take a look at the Moon with binoculars or a telescope.

NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK: Montecito Trails Foundation maintains approximately 200 miles of scenic trails popular with hikers, runners, mountain bikers and equestrians throughout Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Cinco, an adorable Cuban Havanese.

CAT OF THE WEEK: Meet Onyx, the original coffee cat.
