Tibor Karsai Update
updated: Feb 15, 2013, 10:21 AM

Source: Santa Barbara District Attorney

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that for the past 20 months the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office has successfully blocked the release of adjudicated Sexually Violent Predator, Tibor Karsai. The District Attorney's Ofñce is now petitioning the California Supreme Court to overturn the recent Appellate Court ruling that Mr. Karsaí should be released as a "transient" in Santa Barbara County. Additionally District Attorney Dudley is asking the court to order that Mr. Karsai remain in custody until the Supreme Court has made its decision.

Both the Petition for Review and the Request for a Stay were sent to the California Supreme Court today. A ruling is not expected for at least 30 days.

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley is devoted to keeping Santa Barbara safe. Toward that end she is committed to continue to fight the release of any Sexually Violent Predator, as a transient, anywhere in Santa Barbara County.

Are we still governed by the constitution? Or have we become a dictatorship?

The defendant did very very bad things. He was caught. He was arrested and jailed. He went to court. He was found guilty. He was punished for a fixed amount of time. He was to be released at the end of his punishment. Then our District Attorney attempts to block his release back into Santa Barbara county. So far so good.

But now, the District Attorney states that she has successfully blocked his release for 20 months. So, was the legal system used only to delay his release? It seems so according to this press release. But he served his time.

And something just doesn't sit right with that. The Court sentenced him to a fixed term and after the fact the DA decides that isn't long enough so she takes it upon herself to lenghten the time he serves. This is where her actions deviate from the consitution and the constitutional safeguards that we have in place.

It is not her duty now to determine what the lenght of sentence should have been. It was the trial court's decision to make. And they made it. To attempt to change that now is the act of a dictator that does respect our constitution.

THANK YOU Joyce Dudley for keeping this beast off of our streets! You would think that in the post mental hospital era, that guys like this would be forced to live in some sort of monitored group home of similar existence for the rest of his life AND forced to work to earn his keep and reparations to past victims.

Dudley has not followed the law for a long time now wake up. I don't protect child molesters. But she is not above the law even tho she thinks she is. I cant wait till she is gone. The sooner the better. Josh Lynn would have been a much better choice. Hindsight is 20/20 tho.

I personally commend Ms. Dudley on her wise decision and determination to keep this MONSTER off our streets. If any of you are parents think how you would feel if what happened to that poor young girl in the bowling alley ended up happening to your daughter because they let a TWICE convicted VIOLENTsexual predator loose on the streets. HE did the time not once but twice and I doubt that he will ever learn the lesson. Some people are beyond rehabilitation, some conditions even medication can't help. Violent sexual crimes against children of any age is wrong! . I urge you to read the story from the Auburn journal before defending the fact that this guy should be let loose on our streets. And yes I do believe in democracy.... I just believe that some people on this earth are not worhty of living in a democratic society .

Sad that some people here don't believe in rule of law. But I guess that's par for the course in America these days.

Looks like some people including the DA missed the day they taught about lynchings in American History.

It might be time to review that chapter of our history.

But you all are missing the point! Dudley cant just pick and choose what laws to follow. That's the difference between a good DA and one that has an agenda. Can you see how that could be a problem. What if judges did that next?? think about it please. You know murders get out at some point too. If the DA wont follow the law than why should I or anyone else for that matter?

Roger what story was that? I would like to hear about it? do you have a edhat link to the story? Another good question is what ever happened to that gal that was working for the city and stole a million dollars? She should get 10 years. Bank robbers that only get away with 5-10k get 20 years.

2 violent rapes including a 16 year old. Whose daughter, sister, mother, wife are you willing to sacrifice next? Do you really think jail has done anything to rehabilitate him? Please don't let your negative feelings of the DA blind your common sense. This man has already shown incorrigibility.

I don't know enough to opine about the legal implications of this, but I do know the last sentence of her press release is offensive. Shouldn't she just do her job without giving herself lavish praise? Most people go to work and do their duty without trumpeting their amazing commitment to what they are paid to do, in this case " fight against sexually violent predators" with a capital S, V and P.
Pretty vain and self-important.
