District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that for the past 20 months the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office has successfully blocked the release of adjudicated Sexually Violent Predator, Tibor Karsai. The District Attorney's Ofñce is now petitioning the California Supreme Court to overturn the recent Appellate Court ruling that Mr. Karsaí should be released as a "transient" in Santa Barbara County. Additionally District Attorney Dudley is asking the court to order that Mr. Karsai remain in custody until the Supreme Court has made its decision.

Both the Petition for Review and the Request for a Stay were sent to the California Supreme Court today. A ruling is not expected for at least 30 days.

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley is devoted to keeping Santa Barbara safe. Toward that end she is committed to continue to fight the release of any Sexually Violent Predator, as a transient, anywhere in Santa Barbara County.
