About time! I was at the finish line for the inaugural tour stop that came to town back in 2006. So glad the organizers and the City folks came to an agreement, bringing the tour back to SB. Yeah!

So a small handful of elite riders messes up traffic all over town, roads are closed, the police are involved at great expense and no one is screaming. 10,000 riders who live here want to use the streets and its seen as some sort of crime. Oh, the irony.

Wow - lots of happy kids out there today. I'm not feeling anything that ties up traffic and costs the taxpayers money. And 921....if you're talking about that Fiesta ride foolishness, I don't support that either.

This event is major inconvenience for the people that actually live here. Possibly even worse than the SB Marathon.

Bike riders have received a lot of bad press regarding doping. The same problem undoubtedly exists in all professional sports. Most sports have been better at hiding the issue.

So if an Amgen rider blows a stop sign/red light/school crossing and gets hit, who is liable? I bet it's the one driving the car.....

What a collection of cranky comments. Baseball, football, and other sports have the dopers too (like Lance) but it doesn't mean they're all bad. These riders are probably in better shape than most athelets in other sports. So a day or two changes traffic, it's not going on all year long. Also, brings money to our economy. Embrace the fun!

Please provide each rider with a copy of rules of the road, and pointers to etiquette on the road. Depending on how they behave, they should be allowed back or not. I go out of my way to give bikers the right of way - am exceptionally polite and considerate. But their inconsideration drives me nuts. I guess if I was rude I would not care if they were rude.

Anyone else deal with the "Platinum Club" riders? seems like these are some of the really rude local riders... Maybe they can get some share the road tips from the pro's

It's so fun reading Knee Jerk reactions such as these. At least you're getting enough warning to plan ahead for the event.

Wow, what a bunch of cranky trolls today. This is a fun event that will bring a lot cash to Santa Barbara. Forget about Lance and move on.

Just because people do not agree with you does not make them trolls. The only thing I believe from Lance's interviews is when he said everyone cheats in cycling. They did in '90's, and they still do. Why don't we just have all of these "athletes" race from doping station to doping station. Whoever can absorb the most drugs before collapsing would be declared the winner.

Go figure. Do it without getting a permit and everyone hates you. Do it with a permit and organization and everyone still hates you. 132: Tell that to the 4 drivers who couldn't figure out how to use the roundabout in front of me on my ride to work yesterday. You really think the people that cycle for exercise are riding 3 wide and drunk? Get real. Sure, I see idiots on bikes at UCSB all the time, and yet I still still drivers picked off for DUIs every day. People break the law, stop demonizing everyone in a group for the jerks that do.

"Noozhawk" has been just that and spelled it that way for years. I support this ride. Get a grip, people. Complaining about the name of a site?! What the HECK is "edhat"?! Complaining about an organized ride that probably brings money to town? Hard to stomach this site sometimes. Indeed, go rant on CL.
