The age of consent in Mexico is 12. I remember when I read this story the guy couldn't figure wat he did wrong. He admitted that he rape her (with her concent) . He said so what, whats the big deal. You see they think a little different in Mexicio then we do here. In America the age of consent is 18 and rape is never right. But in Mexico it is twelve and sometimes rape is ok. I would not ever let any of my kids go to mexico (spring break or anything). I would tell everyone I know not to go. There are plenty of other beaches and places to go in the world. Have you ever read how many women (all unsloved) have been raped and killed in Chihuahua. Its sickening. I would not spend one American dollar in Mexico until they at least try an clean up their act.

You know that there is something wrong with our judicial system when some pervert who rapes a 14 year old girl, only gets a few years in jail. This freak should spend a minimum of 10 years in jail and the rest of his life on probation. Crimes against children should be severely punished.

Who cares what the age of consent in Mexico is?! This happened in the USA! Not sure I see your point....

My point is that Mexico is screwed up. This guy comes from a place where it's ok to abuse women. Where it's ok to rape a twelve year old girl (with her consent). That's why when he did it he could not understand why he was being arrested.

Forcible rape and statutory rape are two different animals. If you're 17 and sleep with your 17 year old girlfriend, it's rape. Every kid under 18 who has sex at all is either a rape victim or a rapist. A whole nation of rapists and victims I guess, since pre-18 sex is as common as fleas on a dog.

Oh by the way- your victim daughter IS having sex before 18, and so is your son the rapist.

804, you're dead wrong. Parsing words when it comes to rape is always done by people who haven't been raped and have no experience being sexually assaulted.

Being forced into sexual intercourse or activity can be just as violating as being coerced into it. Rape is rape. If you don't understand that, please educate yourself. Your comment is incredibly lacking in understanding of rape.

Rape is not consensual intercourse between under 18s. Again, rape is rape. Please, PLEASE take two seconds to try to understand the ramifications of what you're saying. You may not mean to be irresponsible and flip with your comment, but you are doing just that.

The age of consent is 12-18 in Mexico, depending on the state.

The age of consent in Germany is 14. Must be a backwards country, huh?

Mexico is not only a backwards country it is an extremely dangerous country. Especially if you live in the border states. Google band members killed in Mexico. It's weird. Google murders in Cuidad Juarez. It's weird. Especially women. The Spanish woman who were raped in Acapulco, the crime will never be solved. The country is in a downward spiral. The wolves are guarding the hen house.

Of course we could change our laws to conform with our neighbor's laws. That way there wouldn't be any confusion on what is legal. Tolerance and multiculturalism rolled up in one neat package.
