Costco is being evacuated for a gas leak. Full fire is in response and then some.

Costco Thanks I swear sometimes my brain stops working.. Huge Fire response County Hazmat included something about a compresser than they said Gas Leak..A compresser stopped working, then Gas Leak.

There are multiple fire engines, ambulance, large Hazmat truck and trailer, many police cars. Can smell gas occasionally near theater.

A gas leak forces the closure of the South Coast's biggest retail store, complete with lots of cops, firefighters, the Hazmat team and other emergency responders--and there's not a word about it on the 6 p.m. KEYT "news." Oh, there was a featurette about the driver of a Pepsi truck who escaped injury in a bridge mishap in Louisiana, but not word one about an event affecting lots of locals in Goleta. Doesn't the KEYT "news" department own a scanner? Is there some contest between KEYT and the News-Press as to which "news" organization can best ignore the community? Good grief!

REXOFSB - KEYT web site had story and update at 4:17 and 7:17 pm respectively.

@479: Perhaps, but there was not a single word about it on ANY of their three half-hour newscasts. Call me naive, but I'd think that the temporary shutdown of a large store like Costco and a huge turnout of emergency responders would warrant...oh, I don't know...maybe at least an acknowledgement on the local news broadcast? Sorry, a mention on non-news-related programs at 4:17 and 7:17 p.m. isn't the same thing.

Sorry--I just reread @479's post and realize that it was the KEYT WEBSITE that was referred to. That makes it even worse. KEYT knew about the shutdown but apparently decided it wasn't newsworthy enough to broadcast it.

Roger: Perhaps, but they apparently aren't on the ball on their website, either. KEYT mentioned the incident at 4:17 p.m.--a full 21 minutes after YOU posted it on Edhat at 3:56. So who's the professional journalist NOW? Way ta go, Roger!

For the record Keyt's website redesign is a huge travesty. Somehow they figure out a way to make the site less intuitive AND make the mobile experience unbareable I salute you Keyt; I don't know how but you found a way to make a once bad site: worse.
