Does anyone know what happened to Jess' Union on the corner of Milpas and Montecito? I hope father and
son's are enjoying a well deserved retirement. My husband worked at the station in the 50's while in high
school.

Jess Jimenez (Sr) passed a few years ago. His twin sons, Jess Jr. and Roger took over. After Unocal sold the property, they no longer sold gas,but still operated the back room as a repair shop. Jess Jr. developed some health issues, was physically unable to continue and, sadly succumbed to them just a couple of months ago. Roger (no relation to 'Dodger') gave up the shop and is working for a local auto repair shop

also, most for Unocal (Union76) owners got out of the business when Unocal sold out to Tosco in the mid 90's. Tosco had a different business model for the franchises, as seen in todays 76/CircleK stations.

OP here - Thank You for the information. I knew Jess Sr had not been well, even through his health battles he always wore a smile. So sorry about Jess Jr. He and Roger were always so kind to me. RIP

Jess Jr taught me how to split shot for monster Large mouth bass, I practiced what he taught and caught the fish of a life time, a 17lber out of Casitas, plus many others... I showed up at his gas station as a young stranger (we knew people in common) and told him "I heard he knew how to catch big bass and could he show me how" well he did and I will never forget... Big baits for big fish, when you think your reeling slow enough your not Great fishermen/hunters never fear teaching or showing someone how to do it Thank you Jess!!
