Insurance Plan
updated: Feb 11, 2013, 3:46 PM
My health insurance coverage will end in April via Cal-COBRA and I am looking for
any recommendations for an insurance agent or information about associations that
offer members options to enroll in an insurance plan. Do any EdHat'ers have any
recommendations?

Peters & Milam Insurance petersmilam dot com. Dave Peters is great. I suggest getting a high deductible HSA compatible plan like the See Change HSA 3000 if you have few medical needs. Way cheaper and good enough coverage for major medical.

I used Gretchen Simpson at Kirkpatrick & Associates 966-7322. I had what the insurance companies considered a preexisting condition and she really worked hard to get me the best package she could.

Stevens and Associates/ Karen Davis helped us when my wife's COBRA was ending last year. They are agents that specialize in different carriers. Her number is 805-455-4399. She came to our home and made it very easy to understand and she gave us options to plans instead of just one plan/company to suit or needs.

As long as Sansum, Cottage, and Elite Performance (for Phys Therapy) are on an HSA plan, go for it. Lovin' HSA - like a Health version of the Roth IRA.
