RLR is just washing soda, sodium carbonate (not bicarbonate, just carbonate).

220: I haven't seen washing soda anywhere here in town - anyone know if that's sold in town? The cost buying from amazon is ridiculous. I've admittedly only looked at grocery stores, but I don't really know where else to look. Anyone buy this stuff in town? (I'm not the OP, but am also wondering. If nothing else, I think I can ask my grocery store to buy a case for me. But I hoping I wouldn't have to purchase a whole case - I'd take forever to use it up...)

The Arm and Hammer website says their product, "Super Washing Soda" is sodium carbonate and they claim it is available at Home Depot, but our local HD doesn't say anything about it.

I make my own laundry detergent and one of the ingredients is washing soda. I discovered that washing soda is the same thing as soda ash. Soda ash is used by pool suppliers, so you can purchase it in the pool section of Home Depot, Kmart or any pool supply store. I checked and double checked that it was the same thing and it is -- sodium carbonate.

Santa Barbara Home Improvement Center carries the Arm & Hammer Washing Soda. That's where got mine last time. (I also make my own laundry detergent.)

I occasionally buy the Arm & Hammer soda at Ralph's and at Fresh & Easy (when/if they have it).

I have purchased Arm & Hammer Washing Soda at Ace Hardware on Haley Street. The "other" hardware store on Fairview does not have items like this. FYI, if you like to make your own laundry detergent, that is one of the 3 ingredients (the others are Borax and Fels Naptha Soap). One you DIY, you'll never buy a $10.99 jug of Tide ever again, considering Tide's cost of ingredients & itchy additives.

Albertsons at 5 points and Ralph's on Carrillo both have washing soda, but this is not the same thing as RLR.

RLR is MOSTLY very concentrated washing soda--like soda ash for swimming pool treatment. But, there must be other ingredients because rlr works leaps and bounds better (for stripping cloth diapers).
