Are there any exercise classes in town that are appropriate for someone who has had hip replacement surgery?

There are daily water aerobics classes at the "Y" at 9 am.

Casa Dorinda and Valle Verde have water aerobics classes, but I'm pretty sure that you have to be a resident (pay to live there). Call and ask if you can pay on a daily basis. I hope you have health coverage and/or do not work for a company planning on dropping employee coverage (as the CBO predicts).

Did your doc/surgeon prescribe rehab? The rehabbers, WITH YOUR DOC, can properly refer you. Most elders I know of having that surgery, including family, and including younger people, spend some time in a rehab facility.
Best of luck to your healing.

You didn't give much information about your situation, so this is a difficult question to answer. I assume that you have finished your rehab but you should check with your surgeon or the PT who worked with you. Make sure you have a clear understanding on whether they want you to follow movement precautions and for how long.
Do not expect personal trainers or group exercise instructors to answer these questions for you, they are not qualified to do so. The earlier suggestion for water exercise is excellent.

I had a hip replacement within the last 6 months. I was proactive. I sought out a physical therapist and then, when my post surgical program was ending with the therapist, put the therapist together with a personal trainer and defined a program going forward A good physical therapist is key and it is covered by most insurances. Degreed personal trainers often have units in rehabilitation and a good one is worth the time and energy as well as the $$. Don't sit still if your hip was done well you can reclaim your life!

I will second Titan Sports. They have programs for senior citizens providing lots of personal attention. Also personal trainers.

Swimming and aquatics are good bets. Consult your doc & rehab PT. Excellent experience with aqua therapy through the Cottage Rehab Hospital post hip fracture.

The fitness center at Vista del Monte is open to the public and offers a large number of aqua aerobics classes as well as personal trainers who have a lot of experience working with clients with various joint replacement issues. I'd also recommend Zumba Gold and there are a number of classes offered locally. Check it out at Zumba.com. This is all assuming you've spoken with your doctor for recommendations and you've completed your rehabilitation and physical therapy

I had a hip replacement 13 years ago and after the initial rehab period I found that I could participate in almost any exercise class with some personal limitations. All those mentioned are good, but no need to limit yourself.

After the usual post-op rehab (inpatient and follow-on from home), I found that Pilates designed for recovery from surgery was a great godsend. Find a healer-type instructor or class, via your rehab therapist.
